Images with a point of view

Images with a point of view

A consistent image direction helps a project feel like a complete world. Begin with the feeling and the practical information each image needs to carry.

Set a clear visual intention

Describe the role of the images in plain language. An interior series might need to communicate a calm daily rhythm; an object study might need to explain weight and surface. Choose three practical qualities, such as soft side light, a low viewpoint and visible material texture, that can guide the shoot.

Look for useful variation

A coherent series still needs different kinds of information. Pair a wider contextual frame with a closer detail and a quieter transitional image. Keep the light and palette related, while allowing scale and composition to change. Repeating the same crop six times makes a collection predictable without making it more informative.

Edit the sequence as a whole

Place the images in the order a visitor will encounter them. Check whether each frame adds something new and whether a strong image is competing with the next heading. Remove the photographs that repeat information, then write captions that explain what the picture cannot. A point of view becomes clearer through selection.

Keep the conversation going.
